TCR – What is it?

TCR or “Targeted Charging Review” is a new way for Standing Charges as we know it.

Standing Charges are there mainly to help cover the costs for maintaining and upkeeping the energy grid. This covers the transportation, distribution and balancing of energy.

Ofgem have started a new initiative that they are saying will modernise the network and make sure businesses are charged fairly dependant on the pressure they put on the Grid.

This means that if you are an exceptionally high consumer of energy, you might be charged more to receive the power that comes from the Grid.

What does it mean for you? Well, essentially you need to fully understand what meter type you have, your consumption levels and what impact you are going to face due to TCR.

If you are coming up for a renewal on your energy contracts, you should now expect a considerable increase on your Standing Charges, due to this new way of billing consumers.

At CFB, we are more than happy to help navigate this situation, Get in touch with us to find out what we can do to help.
